Makarand Waingankar, an ex-cricket administrator and respected cricket columnist based in Mumbai, has voiced his support for Sanju Samson after the player was dropped from India's first T20I against Sri Lanka.

Waingankar, who has held key positions in Indian cricket, including CEO of the Baroda Cricket Association, took to social media platform X to express his frustration.

Waingankar feels there has been gross injustice against Samson. He acknowledges that while Samson has missed some opportunities, his current form and age make him a valuable asset to the team.
