The race for the IPL title is in full swing, and we're down to the Eliminator match as Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) take on Mumbai Indians (MI).

After finishing third and fourth in the points table during the regular season, LSG and MI will do battle as they look to keep their respective seasons alive.

The pair faced off only a week ago, with LSG emerging victorious by five runs. Can they repeat that result again to take one step closer towards the final?

The winner of this one will go up against Gujarat Titans (GT) in the second qualifier, for a place in the IPL final against Chennai Super Kings (CSK).

Here, we look at where to find betting value in this clash.

LSG vs MI team news

LSG have been without their captain and opener KL Rahul for the latter stages of the IPL after he was injured during the league stage, but they have coped admirably to make it to the playoffs.

Experienced fast bowler Jaydev Unadkat is also a long-term absentee for the Super Giants.

MI have a relatively clean bill of health coming into this clash. Chris Jordan has been a solid replacement since coming in for the injured Jofra Archer.

LSG vs MI match prediction

  • Result prediction: MI to win

Despite finishing the season below their opponents on the points table, Mumbai head into this match as the favourites.

They are the most successful-ever IPL franchise for a reason, and despite a slow start to the campaign they have built up some solid momentum in recent weeks.

They capped off the regular season with a dominant win over SRH to book a place in the top four, and have momentum on their side.

They have scored the most total runs so far this year (2,592), whilst also hitting the most runs in boundaries (1,682).

Lucknow's consistency must be admired though, finishing 2023 with a net run rate of +0.284, superior to Mumbai's -0.044.

They have quietly achieved all year, but arguably lack the star power and explosive ability to take this one out on the big stage.

LSG vs MI best bet

  • Pick: Marcus Stoinis over 20.5 runs
  • Odds: 1.87 (Dafabet)

Whilst we're backing MI to take this one out, we still expect LSG batsman Marcus Stoinis to do some damage.

The Australian smashed 89 not out the last time these sides faced off, and should carry that confidence into Wednesday night's clash.

Stoinis is averaging 30.67 runs this IPL season, so he should be able to cover his run total on this occasion.

LSG vs MI outside bet

  • Pick: Mumbai to score over 9.5 runs (first over)
  • Odds: 4.00 (Dafabet)

Mumbai lead the way with total runs and runs scored off boundaries this season, so we're backing them to come out swinging against Lucknow.

At 4.00, it doesn't seem too unreasonable for their openers to hit a pair of boundaries along with some extra singles to start their innings.
