Former Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir could quit his role as mentor of Lucknow Super Giants ahead of the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) season, according to Dainik Jagran.

The Lucknow-based franchise have already replaced Andy Flower with Justin Langer as the team's head coach and have appointed former BCCI chief selector MSK Prasad as their strategic consultant.

With Prasad on board now, LSG could now part ways with Gambhir who was in charge of the team as their mentor since the franchise's inception in 2022.

Dainik Jagran quoting a source, wrote, 

After Andy Flower, Gautam Gambhir will now leave the IPL franchise. I can’t say anything further beyond this.

A KKR reunion for Gautam Gambhir on the cards?

The report further claims that Gambhir could opt to go back to Kolkata Knight Riders after quitting his LSG role. 

He is reportedly in talks with his former team where as a captain, the southpaw won two IPL titles in 2012 and 2014.

How have LSG performed under Gautam Gambhir?

Gambhir was appointed as LSG mentor in their very first season in 2022. Under his leadership, LSG reached the play-off twice.

In both seasons, LSG finished third on the league table but bowed out of the knockout stage. While LSG accumulated 18 points from 14 matches in their maiden season, they registered 17 points this year.
