Speaking after the conclusion of the 5th T20I on Sunday, Pandya had said, "...sometimes losing is good. You get to learn a lot. And special mention for all the boys. They showed great character. Winning and losing is a part of the process and we are going to make sure we learn from that."

"MS Dhoni said those who learn even when they win are champions": R Ashwin
On Tuesday, India spinner R Ashwin spoke about the tour on his YouTube channel, and seemingly responded to Pandya (despite not mentioning him by name). He said,
"There are plenty of positives from this T20I series. It is very easy to criticise the team on social media since they lost to a team that didn't qualify for the last T20 World Cup. They haven't qualified for the upcoming 50-over World Cup as well."
"[But] MS Dhoni and a few coaches of mine have said this: 'When you lose you learn so many things. But people who learn even when they win, will become champions."
Ashwin also went on to pick out Tilak Varma and Yashasvi Jaiswal as some of the promising players from the tour, among others.
