Saurashtra Premier League 2023 is underway as the second encounter of the tournament ends in a one-sided victory. Kutch Warriors opened their account in the tournament with a facile win over Sorath Lions. 

Sorath Lions were second best in every department in their game against Kutch Warriors. The inaugural edition champions tasted defeat as they were cleaned out for 121 inside 20 overs while chasing the target set by Warriors.

Batting first, Kutch Warriors posted 151 runs on the board. Wicket-keeper Aryandev Jhala gave the perfect start to the Warriors, with a fiery knock of 37 off 28 deliveries.

The Warriors' innings included a late flourish from Parswaraj Rana, who scored 36 runs off 22 balls, with three fours and one six. Left-arm spinner Jay Chahuan was the pick of the bowlers from Lions, for his 1-12 in three overs.

In response, Lions showed a lack of intent and lost early wickets. They lost three wickets in the powerplay, and found it difficult to keep the scoreboard ticking. Skipper Chirag Jani scored a 63-ball 65, but the Lions kept losing wickets at the other end.

Jani lacked support to change gears, and found his team scampering till the very end. The Lions ended up with a 30-run defeat, courtesy of some brilliant powerplay bowling by Kushang Patel. The right-arm pacer finished with a figures of 3-27, at an economy of 7.3.

Warriors skipper Dharmendrasinh Jadeja bowled superbly in the middle overs, and bagged two wickets (2-11 in four overs) for his efforts.

When do the Warriors and Lions play next in the SPL 2023?

The Sorath Lions lock horns with Gohilwad Gladiators at 15:00 hours IST on the 25th August. Meanwhile, the Kutch Warriors will play Zalawad Royals on Saturday, August 26. All the matches of the Saurashtra Premier League 2023 will be played at the Saurashtra Cricket Association stadium in Kandheri, Rajkot.
