Will Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal be part of the playing XI?
The Indian captain stressed on the need to have four spinners in the 15-man squad. Indian squad has four genuine spin bowling options, besides as many fast bowlers, including Hardik Pandya.
I definitely needed 4 spinners. We know the conditions. There's a little bit of technical aspect involved. I won't give reason for four spinners right now, will reveal it in the first press conference in West Indies, Rohit Sharma stated.
Sharma also hinted at the possibility of both Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal featuring in India's playing XI at the World Cup. The return of KulCha is of genuine interest and excitement among the fans, after their exploits in the ongoing T20I World Cup.
With two spinners being all-rounders who can bat and two attacking spinners in Yuzi and Kuldeep gives you balance. Based on the opposition, we can decide what to play. There's a good chance that both Kuldeep and Chahal can play, the Indian skipper spoke at length on the leg-spinners at the briefing.

What did Rohit Sharma say about missing out on off-spinner in India's squad?
Rohit Sharma also opined on the absence of an off-spinner in India's 15-man squad for the T20I World Cup. Sharma iterated on Washington Sundar, who did not receive ample opportunities to be a part of India's plans for squad selection. The likes of Ravi Ashwin were down the pecking order too, with Axar Patel making the cut and booking his place in the squad.
We discussed a lot about it (not having an off-spinner). Unfortunately, Washington Sundar hasn't played a lot of cricket lately, hasn't been getting an opportunity. Then, it came down to choosing between Ash and Axar. Ashwin hasn't played the format lately, Rohit Sharma reminded fans and media at the press conference.
The 36-year-old sang praises of Axar Patel, who has been in lighting form in the ongoing IPL 2024. The availability of Patel as a batting option, lured the selectors and the skipper towards him, over his compatriots.
Axar has been in real good form, when he played those five games against Australia. He's done well in the format for India. It gives us that left-handed batting option too. He's a very experienced player. Has been playing for a long time.
