Dhruv Jurel has staked his claim as India's go-to wicketkeeper in red-ball cricket with a fascinating innings in the fourth Test against England in Ranchi.

Jurel made his debut for India in the third Test against Ranchi and scored 46 runs in his maiden innings, lasting 104 balls and showing immense maturity even though he did not get to his fifty.

Bet here on India vs England and other cricket matches!

He built on his performance in Rajkot and played a match-saving knock, stitching a 76-run partnership for the 8th wicket with Kuldeep Yadav that lasted almost 33 overs. Jurel was unlucky to have missed out on a truly well-deserved century, but his knock helped India end the innings just 46 runs shy of England's 1st innings total. Had it knock been for Jurel, the lead could have been well over 150.

The 23-year-old's performances have cleared the air on who India will trust as far as the wicketkeeper-batsman role is concerned. Jurel seized the opportunity by showing a maturity beyond his years. He seemed like someone who have played 50 Tests for India, although, in reality, he has played just 15 first-class games.

End of the road for KS Bharat following the performance of Dhruv Jurel?

Fans took to X (formerly Twitter) to share memes on the current wicketkeeping situation involving KS Bharat and Dhruv Jurel.

Bharat made his debut for India in the Test series against Australia in early 2023, getting his chance after injuries due to a car accident ruled Rishabh Pant out.

However, Bharat failed to live up to the expectations. While his glovework has been excellent, he just hasn't done himself any favours by batting well below his potential, failing to score a single half-century in 12 innings (7 Tests).
