KL Rahul has been declared fit to feature in the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), according to a report from Devendra Pandey of Indian Express.

In the first Test of the recently-concluded Test series against England, Rahul injured his right quadriceps. He scored 86 runs in the first innings in that Test in Hyderabad.

The injury ruled Rahul out of the second Test, and would go on to miss the rest of the series after flying to London to consult a specialist medical team under BCCI's supervision.

The wicketkeeper-batsman returned to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bangalore to complete his rehab and return to fitness. Now, the 32-year-old has received his fitness certificate from the NCA and will join the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) pre-season training camp in the next two days.

KL Rahul won't keep the wickets in the first few games of IPL 2024

Per the report from Indian Express, the BCCI have apparently advised Rahul against keeping wickets for the first few games in IPL 2024, asking him to play purely as a batsman.

“He is fit and can join the IPL franchise in the coming days. He suffered pain in the quadriceps and got an injection too. He went through his rehabilitation and the NCA has now declared him fit. However, he has been advised not to take on the wicket-keeping role immediately,” a BCCI was quoted as saying to Indian Express.
