KL Rahul injury update: India batsman to start rehab at NCA from June 13 image

KL Rahul will start his rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore from June 13 as he wants to get fit for the upcoming Asia Cup.

During an Indian Premier League (IPL) match against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) skipper limped off the ground with a thigh injury that he picked up during the second over of the game.

While running the length of the field to try and stop a boundary hit by RCB opener Faf du Plessis, he pulled up midway and went down on the ground in a lot of pain. As Rahul left the ground, it seemed like a serious quadriceps injury.

Later in that match, although he did come to bat at number 11, the batsman couldn't run and was clearly in pain.

He underwent surgery in the United Kingdom and was spotted walking with crutches in London.

However, earlier this week, it was reported that he has resumed walking without help and now it seems that the batsman is ready to embark on his way to recovery.

Due to the surgery, he could not participate in the ongoing World Test Championship Final 2023 (WTC Final 2023) vs Australia at The Oval.

“Absolutely gutted that I won’t be at the Oval next month with Team India. I’ll do everything I can to get back in the blue and help my country. That has always been my focus and priority. After careful consideration and consultation with the medical team, it’s been concluded that I’ll be undergoing surgery on my thigh shortly. My focus will be on my rehabilitation and recovery in the coming weeks. It’s a tough call to make, but I know it’s the right one to ensure a full recovery,” the 31-year-old stated on social media.

However, the batsman seems determined to make his comeback in the forthcoming Asia Cup which is set to start from September 2.
