KL Rahul became the fastest Indian to reach 7000 T20 runs beating Virat Kohli to the milestone during Lucknow Super Giants' (LSG) Indian Premier League (IPL) fixture against Gujarat Titans (GT) at the Ekana Sports City on Saturday afternoon.
Batting first GT posted 135 on the board in their 20 overs. In a slow batting track, Hardik Pandya (66 off 50) and Wriddhiman Saha (47 off 37) were the only two batsmen who kept going to help GT post a respectable score.
In response, Rahul along with Kyle Mayers opened the batting for LSG and got off to a steady start putting up 55 runs for the opening partnership.
The LSG skipper looked in good nick and broke the record by hitting GT's Mohammed Shami for three successive boundaries in his 197th innings, overtaking Kohli who took 212 innings.
