Former Indian World Cup-winning captain Kapil Dev feels that the current crop of Indian cricketers are extremely arrogant and do not feel the urge to consult senior players even if they fail to perform at the highest level.

Dev, widely regarded as one of the greatest all-rounders of all-time, claimed that during their playing days, the players always used to approach senior players for advices, something which the current players never practice.

He is also stated that with too much money in hand, arrogance has creeped into the current batch of players and they have too much to seek advise from anyone.

What did Kapil Dev say?

Speaking to the Week, Dev said,

Differences come out, the good (thing) about these players...is that they are very confident. Negative point is they think they know everything. I don't know how to put it better than that. But they are confident, but they think 'you don't have to ask anybody'. What we believe is an experienced person can help you.

Sometimes too much money comes, arrogance comes. These cricketers think they know everything. That's the difference. I would say there are so many cricketers who need help. When Sunil Gavaskar is there, why can't you talk? Where is the ego? There is no ego as such. They feel 'we are good enough'. Maybe they are good enough, but extra help from somebody who has seen 50 seasons of cricket, he knows things. Listening sometimes can change your thought.

Former Indian captain and batting legend Sunil Gavaskar had recently told the Indian Express that even cricketers of Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid and VVS Laxman's stature used to come to them for advise something that is lacking among the current players.
