England's Joe Root overtook Indian batting legend Sachin Tendulkar as the highest run-getter in Tests between India and England on Thursday (January 25), continuing his fine vein of form against India in red-ball cricket. 

England are currently in India and will face them in five Tests as part of the current cycle of the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-2025.

The first Test began on Thursday (January 25) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad, with England opting to bat first. 

Although Root managed to scored just 29 runs, he managed to overtake Tendulkar in the list of the top run-getters in India-England Tests.

From Joe Root to Sachin Tendulkar: The highest run scorers in India vs England Tests

As mentioned above, Root and Tendulkar are the highest and the second-highest run-scorers, respectively, in Tests between India and England. 

With his 29-run knock in the 1st innings of the 1st Test, Root's tally now stands at 2555 runs in 46 innings, followed by Tendulkar, who scored 2535 runs in 53 innings.
