Jasprit Bumrah provided India the ideal start on Day 3 of the third Test against England in Rajkot by dismissing Joe Root before he could really get set in the middle.
In the context of the game, Root's wicket was certainly a huge blow to England, but the timing was equally significant as the visitors had motored to 207-2 in just 35 overs at the close of play on Day 2.

After India posted 445 in their 1st innings, England got off to a flier thanks to a fierce display of batting by Ben Duckett, who finished the day unbeaten on 133.
India were staring at the prospect of England going into the lead on Day 3 based on how ferociously Duckett was batting and how the pitch was offering almost little to no assistance to the bowlers.
On Day 3, though, Bumrah started the proceedings with Kuldeep Yadav bowling wrist-spin from the other end.
Captain Rohit Sharma has often turned to Bumrah whenever England have threatened to run away with the game, and the 30-year-old quick has been the team's messiah.
Having already taken 15 wickets in the first two Tests, Bumrah answered the prayers of billions of Indian fans as well as the rest of his teammates by getting his 16th scalp of this Test in the form of Root, whose attempted reverse paddle scoop went straight into the hands of Yashasvi Jaiswal, who was stationed in the slip cordon.
It was just the kind of start Rohit and India would have hoped for. Root has struggled against Bumrah this series and fell prey to him for the third time in five innings.
