Ace Indian speedster Jasprit Bumrah is now at full fitness after his return from a year-long back injury, as Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Secretary Jay Shah said to reporters on Thursday.

Shah also said that Bumrah would likely play in the T20 series against Ireland starting on 18 August. Bumrah has been out with injury for nearly a year, causing him to miss the ICC T20 World Cup in 2022 and the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2023. India will hope he is fit to play in the ODI World Cup on home turf in October.

Did the BCCI provide updates on other injured players?

Speaking about other injured players KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant and Prasidh Krishna, Shah said,

"There is no time frame for these players to declare themselves fit. But we will have consistency in selection after the Ireland tour. No player will be directly included in the World Cup squad without playing matches before that.”

When will Pant, Rahul, and Iyer make a return?

Details on these players remain the same as per the BCCI's previous press release. Rishabh Pant, KL Rahul, and Shreyas Iyer are on the way to recovery as well.

Rahul and Iyer have started batting in the nets again. The intensity of the recovery sessions of the duo (both in terms of skill and strength) will increase in the coming days.

However, wicket-keeper Rishab Pant is further behind, and has been "dedicated a fitness programme". He has also begun wicket-keeping.

“He (Pant) has made significant progress in his rehabilitation and has commenced batting as well as keeping in the nets. He is currently following a fitness programme designed for him which includes strength, flexibility and running,” the release stated about Rishab Pant.
