The 35-year-old has been the face of the RCB franchise. Kohli was picked up by RCB in the first-ever IPL auction, as a 19-year-old. Having played for the franchise for 16 years, Kohli has had his home, in the heart of every RCB fan.

As a token of love and adore, many fans all over the world, especially RCB fans, have given him names, glorifying his status, and stature. At the RCB Unbox Event ahead of IPL 2024, Virat Kohli has urged his fans to stop glorifying his stature, and giving him nicknames, like "King".

What message did Virat Kohli give to the RCB fans? 

Virat Kohli returned to cricketing action on March 17, 2024. The Delhi-born batter is currently involved in the RCB Unbox event, ahead of the IPL 2024.

At the event, Kohli said,

You need to stop calling me that word (king). I was telling Faf, I feel embarrassed everywhere when you call me that and they react like that so please just call me Virat from now on. Don’t use that word, it’s very embarrassing for me.

What next for Virat Kohli and RCB?

Royal Challengers Bengaluru will face defending champions, Chennai Super Kings (CSK), in their opening fixture of the IPL 2024. The RCB franchise and fans, would hope that the year 2024 has a lot more in store for them, and not just the WPL trophy. 

RCB's quest for their second trophy of the year starts on March 22, 2024. The Bengaluru-based outfit would travel to Chennai to lock horns against their southern rivals, and five-time IPL winners, CSK.
