Afghanistan recorded yet another stupendous victory at the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 on Monday. After defeating England, Afghanistan defeated Pakistan on October 23 in Chennai.
The win against Pakistan was only the third win for Afghanistan in ODI World Cup history, and the second in the ongoing edition of the World Cup.
Batting first in Chennai, Pakistan posted a total of 282 on the board. Abdullah Shafique (58) and Babar Azam (74) scored half-centuries to guide Pakistan to a decent total.
In response, Afghanistan chased the target in under 49 overs, causing yet another upset in the tournament. Rahmanullah Gurbaz (65), Ibrahim Zadran (87), and Rahmat Shah (77) all scored fifty-plus scores to help Afghanistan clinch the victory at the MA Chidambaram Stadium.

Immediately after the game, former India cricketer Irfan Pathan celebrated the monumental occasion with Afghan spinner Rashid Khan, infuriating many Pakistan fans and supporters.
Irfan Pathan is known for engaging in banter with Pakistan fans over social media. The 38-year-old has regularly tweeted to take a dig at the fans of India's arch rivals. This celebration did not go well with Pakistan fans either, as they were left rattled by the gesture.

Pakistan will lock horns against South Africa on Friday, October 27, at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
Afghanistan will face Sri Lanka in their next encounter at the ODI World Cup. The match will be played on Monday, October 30 at the Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA) Stadium in Pune.
