In December 2022, Indian wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant was involved in a car accident on his way from Delhi to Roorkee, which saw him suffer multiple injuries as he was admitted to a hospital in Dehradun.

Pant only began to walk over a month after landing up in the hospital, and began the slow road to recovery later on in 2023. As a result, he missed the entirety of IPL 2023, India's Asia Cup campaign and the 2023 World Cup on home soil.
As a key part of the Indian Test setup, as well as having a role to play in the shorter formats, Pant's return to action has Indian fans eagerly awaiting news of his recovery.
IPL 2024: Rishabh Pant set to make a return, lead Delhi Capitals
The latest update on Pant's fitness was reported by Cricbuzz on Monday, December 11. As per the reports, he is set to return in IPL 2024. This is a later return date than was speculated earlier in the year, when some outlets reported that he could return as early as February for the home Test series against England.

Earlier this week, there had also been speculation that Pant would return for Delhi Capitals, but only as an Impact Player.
Those rumours were swiftly quashed by the team management as an official clarified that he would take up keeping duties if cleared by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). If not, he will still be leading the side on the field, and batting as well.
The Delhi-based franchise will be hoping Pant can spark a turnaround in their fortunes, as the side finished ninth in the points table in 2023.
