After the conclusion of the World Cup last month, the attention of the cricketing world has turned to the next major tournament on the calendar; the Indian Premier League (IPL).

The tournament is set to take place in April-May of 2024, but ahead of the action starting, the player auction is set to grab the eyeballs when it happens in Dubai on December 19. Several World Cup stars such as Gerald Coetzee and Rachin Ravindra have registered for the auction and are sure to command massive bids.
The official list of 333 players registered for the auction was released by the BCCI on Monday, December 11.
IPL 2024 Auction: Which Indians are in the top price bracket?
Out of the 333 registered players, 23 have set their base price at the maximum amount of Rs 2 crores. Some of the names in this price bracket include the aforementioned Coetzee, along with Pat Cummins, Travis Head, Harry Brook and Mujeeb Ur Rahman.
Three Indian players have also set their base price at Rs 2 crores. They are as follows.
Harshal Patel
Harshal Patel bagged his first IPL contract in 2010 with Mumbai Indians, but never made an appearance for the franchise. He debuted for Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2012, before enjoying his best form with the franchise in IPL 2021.

He picked up 32 wickets in 2021, the joint-most ever in a single IPL season before debuting for India later that year. RCB bought him back in 2022 for Rs 10.75 crores, before releasing him ahead of the 2024 player auction.
Shardul Thakur
Nicknamed the 'Lord', Shardul Thakur made his name on the domestic scene for Mumbai, before bagging an IPL contract in 2014 with Kings XI Punjab. His best IPL form came with Chennai Super Kings in 2018 and 2019, earning him a call-up to the Indian Test team as well.

Shardul played for Delhi Capitals in IPL 2022, before he was traded to KKR ahead of the 2023 season, securing a contract worth Rs 10.75 crores. He was released by the franchise ahead of the 2024 season.
Umesh Yadav
Now 36 years old, Umesh Yadav's best days are perhaps behind him. In his heyday, he was one of the first names on India's Test teamsheet, but is now nowehere to be found in the national team setup.
Yadav had two separate spells each with Delhi Daredevils/Capitals and Kolkata Knight Riders, with a three-year stint at Royal Challengers Bangalore in between. In IPL 2023, he played 8 matches for KKR, picking up just one wicket before being released by the franchise ahead of the 2024 edition.
