As the cricketing world gears up for the excitement of IPL 2024, one of the most anticipated aspects is the retention and release of players by each franchise.
The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) are one of the most popular teams in the tournament and have a wide fan base since it is co-owned by Bollywood superstars Shah Rukh Khan and Juhi Chawla.
KKR are two-time IPL champions, having won the title in 2012 and 2014.
In the hope of bringing back the glory days, they appointed the former team talisman and India opener Gautam Gambhir as their mentor. Shreyas Iyer will be hoping to make a strong comeback to the team after he missed the 2023 IPL season due to a back injury.
A revamp of the bowling unit seems on the cards as KKR let go of Shardul Thakur, Lockie Ferguson and Tim Southee. The IPL auctions will be held in Dubai on Tuesday, December 19.
