IPL 2023: Shubman Gill breaks Sachin Tendulkar's record against SRH image

Gujarat Titans (GT) defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by 34 runs in the Indian Premier League (IPL) on Monday to become the first team to qualify for the playoffs this season.

GT opener Shubhman Gill was the star performer for his side, scoring a knock of 101 runs in just 58 balls to become the sixth player to score a century this season and the 45th batsman to produce this feat in the entirety of IPL.

In the process, Gill also broke a 13-year record held by Mumbai Indians batsman Sachin Tendulkar.

Shubman Gill breaks Sachin Tendulkar's record against SRH

Gill overtook Tendulkar's earlier record of scoring the fastest-ever half-century without scoring a six in the IPL. He did so by achieving the feat in 22 balls (also Gill's fastest-ever 50), as opposed to the Mumbai Indians legend who took 23 balls to cross the 50-run mark without hitting a six in an IPL clash against Delhi Capitals (then Delhi Daredevils) in 2010.
