IPL 2023: BCCI takes responsibility of managing KL Rahul's injury image

It has been a tough Indian Premier League (IPL) season for KL Rahul. The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) skipper has not been in the best of form in this year's IPL. He has scored 279 runs across 9 innings so far, a disappointing run by his standards.

Before he could script a comeback, the batsman suffered thigh injury against the Royal Challengers Bangalore. Rahul tried to play through the pain coming to bat on the 11th wicket in the second innings, but the injury visibly prevented him from contributing meaningfully.

As per Cricbuzz, the Board of Control for Cricket in India will oversee the treatment of his injury.

KL Rahul injury to be managed by the BCCI

The report states that Rahul's further involvement with LSG in this season's IPL will be decided by the BCCI. He is currently in Lucknow where the Giants take on Chennai Super Kings on Wednesday, but he will not be in the squad for the game.

Furthermore, the LSG skipper's treatment will be done by the medical team of the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru, who also come under the BCCI.

His scans will reportedly be done in Mumbai at a BCCI designated facility.

Considering the World Test Championship final between India and Australia will take place next month, and KL Rahul is contracted with the BCCI, it is natural they will monitor his status as he is a vital member of India's test team.

When will KL Rahul be back from injury?

As of now very little is known about Rahul's return with the medical team still running tests and observing him before making any assumptions or conclusions.

Reports suggest the batsman is in lot of pain and the injured area still has swelling. There's a good chance he will not participate any further for LSG in this year's IPL.
