India and England will lock horns in the fourth Test of their ongoing Test series at the JSCA International Stadium Complex in Ranchi, starting on Friday, February 23.

India won the third Test in Rajkot by a historic 434-run margin to take a crucial 2-1 lead in the series, riding on heroic performances from Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ravindra Jadeja.

England will have done a lot of introspection following a harrowing defeat, but there is going to be a lot of respite for them in Ranchi as Jasprit Bumrah - the leading wicket-taker in this series with 17 wickets from three Tests - is set to be rested

Following the Rajkot Test, there has been a lot of debate surrounding the role of umpire's call in DRS, not least due to England skipper Ben Stokes' blunt opinions on the technology in the aftermath of the loss.

After winning the series opener in Hyderabad, the visitors have lost two Tests on the trot, which is certainly going to impact the psyche of Stokes and Co.

India vs England, 4th Test: Toss

India have played just two Tests in Ranchi - against Australia in March 2017 and against South Africa in October 2019. The match against Australia ended in a draw, while India defeat South Africa by an innings and 202 runs.

Like most pitches in the country, the pitch in Ranchi tends to be conducive to batting on the first two days, but gradually transforms into a spin-friendly track as the game progresses towards days 3, 4, and 5.

Hence, it should be a good toss to win. Whichever captain wins the toss in Ranchi, he should surely look to bat first in order to avoid batting during the later stages of the Test, when batting becomes exceedingly tough.

India vs England: Prediction for 4th Test

India have bounced back in style in this series after losing the first Test in Hyderabad by 28 runs.

What's more, India have played with a very inexperienced batting lineup, handing debuts to two youngsters in Sarfaraz Khan and Dhruv Jurel in the third Test. Both players repaid the faith, especially Sarfaraz, who scored two fifties on his debut.

As for the bowling, Bumrah has led the attack and he has been ably supported by the likes of Mohammed Siraj, Kuldeep Yadav, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Jadeja. However, his absence in Ranchi is surely going to weaken the Indian bowling lineup. Even then, India has enough firepower in their bowling lineup to deliver a match-winning performance. Don't count out a Bumrah-less India just yet.

If Rohit Sharma and Jaiswal continue to contribute at the top of the order, Shubman Gill and Sarfaraz hammer runs from the middle-order, and the spin troika of Ashwin, Jadeja, and Kuldeep prove to be as effective as they were in Rajkot, then India should win the match.
