A star is born as Gill reaches ton

Indian opener Shubman Gill is giving the Aussies plenty to think about, as he puts together an excellent innings at the crease.

Gill's patience and skill has been on show, matching the efforts of Usman Khawaja and Cameron Green in the opening two days.

In the very hot conditions, the right-hand batter has been impressive so far and has reached the elusive century, notching up his second ton of his career.

Is the pitch coming to life?

The opening two days of the fourth test at Ahmedabad has ultimately produced a test-match-esque pitch, unlike what we've seen in previous tests.

However, on day three, it seems like it is coming to life, with Australian spinners Matthew Kuhnemann and Nathan Lyon noticing some difference.

So far, the pitch at the Narendra Modi Stadium hasn't stacked up to the days in Indore, which boasted 4.5 degrees of turn for some bowlers.

Kuhnemann gets much needed break through

India's run chase was well and truly on its way, with Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill batting extremely well.

With Australia in desperate need of a wicket, in stepped Matthew Kuhnemann.

The left-arm spinner has troubled the Indian batters before and the visitors were hopeful he'd be able to do the same.

Just before the morning drinks break, Sharma tried to punch the ball through the covers but managed to pick out Marnus Labuschagne.
