Indian speedster Jasprit Bumrah and wicketkeeper batter KL Rahul have been officially ruled out of action for the fourth Test match in the ongoing series against England.

Earlier it was reported that Bumrah had not travelled with the Indian squad to Ranchi and later the BCCI confirmed that the Mumbai Indians star had been left out of the squad to balance his workload.

KL Rahul, who missed the third Test match in Rajkot, has once again been ruled out of the squad owing to his fitness concerns. While Bumrah could come back for the fifth and final Test match in Dharamsala, Rahul's participation will be subject to his fitness.

As a replacement for Bumrah, BCCI have brought in Bengal seamer Mukesh Kumar, who was allowed to leave the squad ahead of the Rajkot Test to play his state team's final Ranji Trophy league stage game.

What did BCCI say about Jasprit Bumrah and KL Rahul?

In an official statement released on Tuesday, BCCI wrote, 

Jasprit Bumrah has been released from the squad for the 4th IDFC First Bank Test against England in Ranchi. The decision was taken keeping in mind the duration of the series and amount of cricket he has played in recent times. Meanwhile, KL Rahul is ruled out of the 4th Test. His participation in the final Test match in Dharamsala is subject to fitness. Mukesh Kumar, who was released from the squad for the third Test in Rajkot, has joined the squad in Ranchi.
