Batting first, the hosts were bundled out for just 55 runs in 23 overs with Mohammed Siraj picking up six wickets for the Indians while Jasprit Bumrah and Mukesh Kumar got two wickets each.

Then while chasing, India lost their first four wickets for just 110 runs within the second session of the first day. From thereon, Virat Kohli was going strong along with KL Rahul before the latter departed for eight runs after facing 33 deliveries. India were reduced to 153 for five.
Thereafter, India lost their remaining five wickets without scoring a single run as Kagiso Rabada and Lungi Ngidi breathed fire.
Kohli departed for 46 runs while all five tailenders returned to the pavilion without registering any runs. India were eventually bowled out for 153 runs in 34.5 overs.
