Winning the toss, Rohit Sharma decided to bat first. India posted a mammoth total of 397 runs for the loss of four wickets in 50 overs.

In response, New Zealand were bowled out for 327 runs in 48.5 overs. Kane Williamson and Daryl Mitchell did well with the bat. Williamson scored 69 off 73 balls while Mitchell hit 134 off 119 balls.
