India qualified for the semifinals by finishing top of the league standings, winning all 9 of their matches. They met New Zealand in the semifinal on Wednesday, scoring 397/4 before Mohammed Shami took seven wickets to secure a 70-run win.

Australia finished third in the group stage with 7 wins out of 9, behind South Africa only on net run rate. The two sides met in Thursday's semifinal in Kolkata, where the Proteas put up a spirited defense of 212, but eventually saw Australia cross the line to qualify for the summit clash.

The World Cup final promises to be a superb exhibition of cricket, but there have been big moves planned off the field as well. On Saturday, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the programmes planned for the day of the final.

Singers Pritam Chakraborty, Jonita Gandhi, Nakash Aziz, Amit Mishra, Akasa Singh, Tushar Joshi and Aditya Gadhvi will all be in attendance as they are set to perform before and during the match. Earlier reports that British-Albanian singer Dua Lipa would perform were wide of the mark.

Apart from the performers, several dignitaries are expected to attend the match. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad along with the Union Home Minister Amit Shah, whose son Jay Shah is the current BCCI Secretary.

Police Commissioner of Ahmedabad Gyanendra Singh Malik confirmed that Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma would be in attendance, as well as Australian Deputy Prime Minister Richard Marles. Australian PM Anthony Albanese had reportedly been invited, but it appears he will not be at the game.

While this the official list of celebrities set to attend, there could be others arriving on matchday. For India's semifinal clash with New Zealand, the likes of Siddharth Malhotra, Kiara Advani, Ranbir Kapoor, Rajnikanth, Sachin Tendulkar and David Beckham were all spotted at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

Bollywood actor Vivek Oberoi was confirmed on Saturday to be attending, when he was spotted touching down at the Ahmedabad airport in the evening.
