India ended day three at 40/0 in 8 overs, in pursuit of 192 to win in the fourth innings. The morning session began well for the hosts, before they lost Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rajat Patidar in quick succession, to slip to 100/3.

India set 192 to win against England: What is their highest successful chase in Test history?

India's highest-ever successful chase to date came back in 1976. In Port of Spain, they were set 403 to win by West Indies thanks to Viv Richards' 177 and Michael Holding's 6/65. However, the Indian batters stepped up in the fourth innings.

Centuries from Sunil Gavaskar (102) and Gundappa Viswanath (112) along with Mohinder Amarnath's 85 meant India chased down the total on day 5, in 147 overs to win by 6 wickets.

The current chase of 192 is India's 15th-highest of all time.
