Why has Imran Khan been punished for fraud marriage with Bushra Bibi?

Imran Khan is set to serve a seven-year imprisonment for his fraudulent remarriage with Bushra Bibi. The duo's marriage in 2018, has been considered illegal and fraudulent. Bibi's previous partner filed a case against the couple on the grounds of illegal remarriage.

As per Muslim Family law, women are prohibited from remarrying for a certain time, after their husband dies or they are divorced. The court has revealed that Bibi remarried before the completion of the required period, following her divorce from her previous husband.

Both Bibi and Khan are set to serve seven years of imprisonment. The former is allowed to serve her period while being under house arrest. However, Khan is currently serving his charges at the Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi.

What are the three reasons for which Imran Khan is proven guilty?

On Tuesday, Imran Khan was jailed for ten years, leaking classified documents containing confidential information of the State.

A day later, on Wednesday, Khan was down on accusations that he and his wife had sold or kept state gifts that he received during his time of being the Prime Minister. It included the jewelry gifted by the Prince of Saudi Arabia. Both were given 14-year sentences on Wednesday.

On Saturday, the most recent reason for Imran Khan's arrest has been fraudulent marriage. The 71-year-old had married a woman, supposedly in her 40s, before she served her duration mentioned as per Muslim Family Law.
