England won the first Test by 28 runs to take a shocking 1-0 lead, but India made a great comeback, thanks to some brilliant individual performances from the younger players.

The recent Test against England in Dharamsala, which India won, was the team's 579th Test match and their 178th win in the format. It's the first time in history that India have the same no. of wins and losses in Tests (win-loss ratio of 1.00).

India's record in Tests: Home vs Away

India have played almost the same number of matches both home and away. While India started their journey in Tests by playing their first-ever game away from home in 1932, their first-ever Test on home soil was played in 1933, a three-match series against England which the visitors won 2-0.

Of India's 579 Tests, 289 have come at home, 288 away from home, and two at a neutral venue. (The two Tests at neutral venues were the 2021 and 2023 WTC finals, which they lost).
