On Wednesday, 15 November, India will take on New Zealand in the first semifinal of the 2023 World Cup at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

India finished first in the league phase of the competition, winning all nine of their matches. It is currently the longest winning streak of any Indian side in a single World Cup, and this team will look to keep it going against New Zealand.

The Kiwis had a slightly rockier route to the top four as they won their first four matches before losing the next four and securing qualification with a win over Sri Lanka in their final game. However, their performances have been solid, and they will fancy their chances of beating the hosts and making it to the final.

Ahead of the game, The Sporting News brings you the important points to keep in mind if you are attending the match in the stadium on Wednesday.

Dos:

  • Do remember to carry a copy of your physical ticket. While the booking process is done online, a physical ticket also needs to be presented when entering the stadium.

  • If you did not opt for home delivery, the ticket needs to be collected from the following address before you enter the Wankhede Stadium: Box-office, Brabourne Stadium, House, Block 3, Gate no.10, Veer Nariman Rd, Churchgate.

  • Do arrive for the match early. It is scheduled to begin at 2:00 pm, but plan to be at the ground at least two hours in advance.

  • The official advice from Mumbai Police as of 14 November also encourages fans to arrive as early as 11:30 am as extra security checks have been planned.

Don'ts:

  • As far as it is possible, do not use your own vehicle to arrive at the ground. Overcrowding is a common issue at the venue, so try to use public transport instead. In addition, there have been parking restrictions imposed by the police, meaning it could be incovenient to use one's own vehicle.

  • Do not bring any prohibited items to the stadium, as there will be nowhere to store them even if you carry them unintentionally. These include bags, tobacco products, coins, paper pencils, power banks and objectionable banners. For a comprehensive list, refer to the venue regulations as laid out by the ICC before leaving home.

  • Do not leave the stadium midway through the match, unless you are sure you want to depart. This is a guideline that is not always followed, so you may be able to get back in on certain occasions, but it is unlikely that you will be allowed back in if you leave halfway through this match, which has an added layer of security around it.
