The 2023 World Cup ran from 5 October to 19 November, encompassing a total of 45 group stage matches, two semifinals and one final.

The summit clash took place on Sunday in Ahmedabad, which saw 92,543 spectators turn up at the ground to watch Australia beat hosts India to lift their sixth trophy. The attendance for that game was the second-highest ever for a World Cup final, after the 2015 final at the Melbourne Cricket Ground saw 93,013 spectators turn up.

The 2023 edition took place over ten different venues in India, and official figures have confirmed that the total attendance was the highest ever recorded for a single World Cup.

How many fans attended the Cricket World Cup in India?

As per the International Cricket Council (ICC)'s official figures 1,250,307 fans attended World Cup matches across the 48 games. ICC Head of Events Chris Tetley said,

ICC events play an important part in growing our game and inspiring the next generation of players and fans around the world and we would like to thank the fans who contributed to making the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 a resounding success, and look forward to sharing more thrilling experiences for fans in future ICC events.

This year's World Cup beat the previous record attendance figure of 1,229,826 from 2011, when the tournament was held in India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.
