How have the Indian cricket team performed in ICC tournaments?

India are all set to take on Australia in their second consecutive ICC World Test Championship final which starts on June 7 at The Oval in London.

The Men in Blue had reached the final in the inaugural edition of the tournament in 2021 but lost to New Zealand.

India have unable to win an ICC tournament since winning the ICC Champions Trophy in 2013 where they beat England in the final.

Since their triumph at Edgbaston Cricket Ground, they have been unable to lift another ICC trophy in the past 10 years.

Since winning the Champions Trophy, they have had heartbreaks in finals on three occasions including defeat against arch-rivals Pakistan in the 2017 ICC Champions Trophy and they have faced semi-final exit on four occasions which include the ICC World Cup in 2015 and 2019 and ICC T20 World Cups in 2016 and 2022 

How have India performed in ICC trophies over the years?

India's first appearance in an ICC tournament was back in 1975 in the first-ever edition of the ICC Cricket World Cup where they finished sixth.

Their first triumph came in 1983 when Kapil Dev led an underdog to a World Cup win against the mighty West Indies of Clive Lloyd.

India's second ICC trophy win was the 2002 edition of the ICC Champions Trophy when they jointly won the title with Sri Lanka.

They went on to win three more ICC trophies which include the famous T20 World Cup win in 2007 and their second ICC Cricket World Cup triumph in 2011 in India.

India will finally hope to end their ICC trophy drought and win their sixth major trophy when they face Australia in the ICC Test Championship final.
