Who has scored the highest last-wicket partnership in Test cricket? image

In a remarkable display of resilience and skill, the Australian duo of Cameron Green and Josh Hazlewood etched their names in the annals of cricket history by forming Australia's highest 10-wicket partnership in Test cricket against New Zealand on Friday.

The pair showcased exceptional batting prowess during the morning session of the second day in Wellington, frustrating New Zealand's bowling attack. Their partnership of 116 for the final wicket surpassed the previous record of 114 runs set by Jason Gillespie and Glenn McGrath in Brisbane in 2004.

Cameron Green's contribution was particularly noteworthy as he played a pivotal role in Australia's comeback. Despite facing difficult batting conditions, Green

batted for over six hours, providing stability to the lower order. His unbeaten knock of 174 not only buoyed Australia but also demonstrated his ability to anchor the innings, especially during challenging phases.

Australia found themselves in precarious positions at 89 for 4 and 156 for 5, but Green's composed innings provided the lower order with a platform to build upon. As the day progressed, Green accelerated his scoring, culminating in a well-deserved century from the penultimate ball of the day.

The partnership between Green and Hazlewood not only bolstered Australia's first innings but also propelled them to a formidable total of 383 runs. This partnership marks only the sixth instance of Australia achieving a 100-run or more partnership for the tenth wicket in Test cricket.

What is the highest 10th-wicket partnership in Tests?

While Anderson scored 81 before he was removed by Bhubaneshwar Kumar, Root remained not out on 154* to help the Three Lions post 496.

The match ended in a draw.
