Former captain of the Mumbai Indians (MI), Rohit Sharma scored a brilliant century against arch-rivals Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on April 14, 2024.
Unfortunately though, the Mumbai star’s knock came in a losing cause as Mumbai were defeated by 20 runs while chasing down a target of 207 runs set by CSK. Rohit’s 63-ball 105 came in with 11 boundaries and 5 sixes while wickets kept falling at the other end.
Another such instance in this season’s IPL wherein individual brilliance has bee overshadowed by team's disappointing performance has been the story of none other than Virat Kohli.

Virat Kohli is also leading the orange cap player’s list but the chances of his team qualifying for the playoffs seems to be dwindling.
Virat has the highest individual scores in the IPL this season but it was in a losing cause. His 72-ball 113 against Rajasthan Royals was also a display of his batting brilliance, although it was the joint-slowest IPL century, Virat still smashed the ball at a strike rate of 140 and helped RCB reach a score of 183.
Alas, Jos Buttler’s century proved to be a counter to Kohli’s innings, comfortably winning the game for the Royals in Jaipur.
