Heath Streak: Remembering the time Zimbabwe great dismissed Sachin Tendulkar twice in one match image

Former Zimbabwe all-rounder and captain Heath Streak is one of the greatest cricketers the African nation has ever produced.

He is fondly remembered for his stellar record with both bat and ball for Zimbabwe in the late 1990s and early 2000s, An effusive cricketer, his wicket celebrations sometimes grabbed as much attention as the wickets themselves.

After retiring from international cricket in 2005, Streak had coaching stints with the Zimbabwean national team, as well as IPL sides Gujarat Lions and Kolkata Knight Riders.

As far as Indian fans' memories go, Streak stands out. His best bowling figures, 6/73 in Tests and 5/32 in ODIs have both been against India, in 2005 and 1997 respectively.

Remembering when Heath Streak dismissed Sachin Tendulkar twice

Streak was one of the leading performers during Zimbabwe's famous Test win over India in Harare in 2001, a match in which he took the great Sachin Tendulkar's wicket in both innings.

Batting first, India rode on half-centuries from opener Shiv Sunder Das (57) and Rahul Dravid (68*) to post 237. Streak was the destroyer-in-chief, ripping the heart out of the Indian middle-order by dismissing VVS Laxman, Sachin Tendulkar and Sourav Ganguly all for scores of 20 or below.

Streak was then influential with the bat as Zimbabwe managed a 78-run lead. He scored 40, coming in to bat at 110-5 and putting on 65 runs for the sixth wicket with top-scorer Grant Flower. He was eventually dismissed, funnily enough, by Tendulkar himself.

India were cruising in the second innings at 150-2, before Streak stepped in. He forced a mistake from Tendulkar, who drove the ball straight to Grant Flower at gully to be dismissed for 69. This triggered a collapse which saw India lose 5 wickets for 57 runs, including 2 more for Streak, those of Shiv Sunder Das (70) and Ajit Agarkar (0).

India were eventually bowled out for 234, and Zimbabwe reached the target of 157 to win by 4 wickets, led by Stuart Carlisle's 62. This result is till date Zimbabwe's most recent Test victory over India.
