Shivam Dube dropped a sitter to give Mohammad Rizwan a life in India's match against Pakistan. The Mumbai-born batter has had a tough life as a cricketer after the announcement of the T20I World Cup squad.

The southpaw dropped a sitter at the boundary rope at deep fine-leg off Jasprit Bumrah's bowling in the powerplay. The drop costed India a fair-few runs, with Rizwan going on to score 31 runs, before being dismissed by Bumrah in the 15th over.

Indian fans have slammed the all-rounder for his dropped catch. Moreover, Dube also scored just 3 runs, wasting nine balls while India were setting a target, early-on in the game.

How did fans react to Shivam Dube's dropped catch during India vs Pakistan game?

Fans have blamed the impact-player rule from the IPL for Shivam Dube dropping the catch at the boundary rope. Dube was used as an impact substitute by Chennai Super Kings for most part of the IPL.

He did not have to field, and only did his job as a specialist batter in IPL 2024.

It’s almost like having the impact player rule and Dube hardly fielding all IPL, was not the best preparation for Dube to field, fan stated on X.

Some fans have demanded the inclusion of Rinku Singh, who was dropped out of the 15-man squad for Shivam Dube. Dube has not impressed in the World Cup so far, and fans extended sympathy towards Rinku Singh.

Just a reminder : They dropped Rinku singh for Shivam Dube. Yes this team management along with Ajit Agarkar, Just saying, a fan said on X.

Fans have used the inclusion of Shivam Dube over Rinku Singh as an analogy for a similar selection in ODI World Cup 2019. Vijay Shankar was selected ahead of an in-form Ambati Rayudu, back in 2019.

Pathetic! Sorry but Shivam Dube should be treated like Vijay Shankar, replace him with Rinku Singh and send him back to India, he doesn't deserve to play for India. Looks like he just went there to explore USA, a fan reacted on X.
