Maxwell broke the record for the fastest century at the ODI Cricket World Cup. He scored a 40-ball century against the Netherlands on October 25 to help Australia to a 309-run victory.

Batting first, Australia stacked up 399 runs on the board at the end of 50 overs. Glenn Maxwell (106) and David Warner (104) scored centuries, while Steve Smith (71) and Marnus Labuschagne (62) also joined in the party.
In response, the Dutch were bowled out for 90 runs in 21 overs. Adam Zampa shined brightest on the night. The leggie bagged yet another 4-fer in the ongoing ODI World Cup.

Glenn Maxwell brought up the fastest century by any batter at the World Cup. The 35-year-old scored his century is just 40 balls - nine fewer than the previous best. Maxwell also scored the fourth-fastest century in ODI Cricket history.

'The Big Show' walked out to bat in the 39th over, but scored his first boundary in the 41st over. He hit six fours and two sixes before his half-century. After his 50, Maxwell dealt in nothing but sixes. The 35-year-old scored six more sixes before he raised his bat for the customary century celebration.
Maxwell scored his half-century in 27 balls. However, he took just 13 deliveries to score the next 50 runs. He scored at a Strike Rate of 240.91, bashing nine boundaries and four maximums off his willow.

Whose record did Glenn Maxwell break by scoring the fastest century in World Cup?
South Africa's Aiden Markram previously held the record for the fastest century in a World Cup game. Markram scored a century off 49 deliveries against Sri Lanka at the same venue.
Markram scored the century at the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023 too. However, his name as the record-holder was rather short-lived.
