The seventh season of the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) is upon us as eight from across the state are all set to compete against each other.
The tournament this year will be held across four cities in Tamil Nadu. It starts on June 12 and the final will be played on July 12.

Chepauk Super Gillies, who are the reigning champions along with Lyca Kovai Kings, are the most successful team in the history of the competition with four titles to their name.
The TNPL has been a great launchpad for several talented youngsters, who after a fruitful season in the league went on to get picked by IPL teams and thereafter make their international debuts for the Indian cricket team.

From Varun Chakravarthy to Sai Sudharsan, here are some of the gems produced by TNPL who went on to make it big in Indian cricket.
TNPL stars who played for IPL teams and Indian cricket team
- Narayan Jagadeesan: The wicket-keeper batsman from Tamil Nadu burst into the scene with a scintillating show in the inaugural edition of the TNPL where he won the Player of the Tournament award scoring 397 runs. Thereafter he joined Chennai Super Kings in the IPL where he spent five years before moving to Kolkata Knight Riders in 2023.
- T. Natarajan: The left-arm fast bowler made his TNPL debut in the inaugural edition of the competition where his performance earned him a call from IPL side Punjab Kings. In 2018, he joined Sunrisers Hyderabad, where he blossomed and went on to make his international debut for India in 2020.
- Shahrukh Khan: After making a name for himself in the TNPL, the pinch hitter got picked in the IPL 2021 auction by Punjab Kings and has been a mainstay in their squad since then.
- Washington Sundar: Another TNPL gem who went on to flourish in IPL and then represent India internationally is all-rounder Washington Sundar. He played for Rising Pune Supergiants, Royal Challengers Bangalore and currently plies his trade with Sunrisers Hyderabad. He made his international debut in T20I in 2017.
- Vijay Shankar: The hard-hitting middle-order batsman was part of the Indian squad at the 2019 World Cup and also played a crucial role in Gujarat Titans winning their first IPL last season and reaching the final this year.
- Varun Chakravarthy: The mystery spinner, who took the IPL by storm in his debut season with Kolkata Knight Riders in 2020, is currently an integral part of the two-time IPL winners. He has also represented India internationally in the T20 format.
- Sai Sudharsan: The southpaw grabbed several eyeballs in IPL 2023 with his stellar performance with the bat up in the order in Gujarat Titans. Sudharsan scored 362 runs at an average of 51.71 this year and played an important role in GT reaching back-to-back IPL finals.
- Sai Kishore: After making a name for himself in the TNPL, Sai Kishore was picked up by Gujarat Titans last season. The left-arm spinner has so far appeared in five matches for the franchisee.
