Pakistan are currently going through one of the biggest turmoils in their history. The men's team are on the back of a home Test series loss to Bangladesh, while the women's team are in the United Arab Emirates for the T20 World Cup 2024.
The lack of success on the pitch seems to have affected the off-field commitments, quite massively. The downturn of results has impacted the revenue streams, as per Crizbuzz as Pakistani men's and women's players have not been paid their salaries for the past four months.
The men's team are preparing to host England for a three-match Test series this month, while the women's played their inaugural encounter against Sri Lanka at the Women's T20 World Cup on Thursday, October 3.

Is Pakistan Cricket Board going through a financial crisis?
It seems the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) are in the middle of a financial crisis, as players await their salaries, in addition to their match fees for several months. PCB have reportedly failed to pay their players since June 2024.
The players have not received payments, as PCB remain committed to various other issues surrounding the men's and women's teams. Cricbuzz has also reported that the reasons of non-payments of salaries are different for both men and women.
Cricbuzz quoted a PCB official, who said, "It is a work in progress. As soon as the lists are finalised and approved, contracts will be offered with effect from 1 July 2024.
The official further claimed,"There is too much going on and there is lack of time to address all matters."
Is there payment parity between men and women cricketers in Pakistan?
There is a lengthy disparity in the pay scales of men and women cricketers in Pakistan. That is not enough, as Pakistan women are one of the lowest-paid professionals among all ICC member-nations.
The likes of India, New Zealand, and England have brought parity in awarding the same match fees to both men and women. Meanwhile, West Indies and South Africa have committed to providing pay-scale parity soon.

No such parity can be restored in Pakistan, due to an absence of a players' union. The players cannot fight for their rights, be it men's or women's team. The players have to take the PCB standards as given, however exploitative they are.
Amidst all this, the Pakistan board have committed to invest USD. 600,000 towards women's cricket. However, the area of focus under the women's wing remains unclear.
