Axar Patel could have found himself on an elite hat-trick list but he was unfortunately denied due to a drop catch in the Champions Trophy 2025 game in Dubai.
The incident happened after he had picked the wickets of Tanzid Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim in successive deliveries as Bangladesh were reeling at 35/5.
India had a couple of slips in place and the left-arm spinner bowled a perfect delivery that took the edge of Jaker Ali, however, the Indian captain Rohit Sharma missed a sitter.
If Rohit had held on to that catch, Axar would have become just the second bowler in the tournament's history to pick up a hat-trick after West Indies' Jerome Taylor. Here's how the fans reacted.
Reacting to the incident on commentary, Sunil Gavaskar said: "Dropped catch on hat-trick will be remembered a lot more."
