Indian wicket-keeper batter Dinesh Karthik has been included in the coaching team of the England men's cricket team that is set to face India in a five-match Test series starting January 25.
Karthik will assist the England Lions for the first nine days of their tour to India and will work as a batting consultant.

Welcoming Karthik on board, England Men’s Performance Director Mo Bobat said,

The first Test will start on January 25 and will be held at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad.

What is Dinesh Karthik's role in the England cricket team?
The Tamil Nadu-born cricketer will work as a batting consultant to the England Lions and will be part of their coaching team for the first nine days of the tour.
His primary job will be to guide the England batters on how to adjust to the Indian conditions and bat in the turning Indian tracks. He will work alongside coach Neil Killeen and full-time assistants Richard Dawson, Carl Hopkinson, and Graeme Swann.
Karthik will serve as the team's batting consultant until Ian Bell joins the squad on January 18 after completing his other stint as assistant coach with Melbourne Renegades in Australia's Big Bash League.

Has Dinesh Karthik retired from international cricket?
While the wicketkeeper batter is yet to officially announce his retirement from international cricket, he last represented India on the international stage in the 2022 T20I World Cup against Bangladesh. His last Test appearance was in 2018 and incidentally it was against England.
He still continues to represent his state team Tamil Nadu in Indian domestic cricket and plays for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL.
