The Indian Premier League (IPL) is back with its 16th edition this year, and fans are excited to see their favourite teams and players back in action. All eyes will be on who can pry away the trophy from reigning champions Gujarat Titans (GT) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are one of the top contenders to win the tournament.
However, that's not the only thing the fans are mulling over. There has been much discussion around whether CSK skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni will retire after this year's IPL. Fans and pundits believe IPL 2023 is his swan song.
More fuel was added to these rumours during CSK's last home match this season, against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Monday. It was labelled as Dhoni's last game at the Chepauk, with the 'Thala' interacting with home fans after the game as if he were bidding farewell.

However, in a video released by CSK on their official twitter account, their CEO Kasi Viswanathan said that the team believes Dhoni will not retire at the end of the season.
"We believe MS Dhoni is going to play next season as well so I hope fans will continue to support us like every time", said Viswanathan (translated from Tamil).
