Team India came back from behind to clinch the five-match bilateral series against Zimbabwe 4-1. A young Indian side led by Shubman Gill beat the Chevrons in the final match of the series on Sunday. 

The hosts seemed to be in pole position, restricting the Asian giants to 40-3 inside the first five overs. It was then that Sanju Samson took the matters into his own hands. Samson scored a 45-ball 58, as he took his team to a respectable 167-run total.

The fans and critics have lauded the experienced campaigner, Sanju Samson, for his under-pressure knock against Zimbabwe, as India emerged 4-1 victors over African minnows.

How did fans react to Sanju Samson's match-winning knock against Zimbabwe?

Fans lauded Sanju Samson's six-hitting ability against Zimbabwe. A fan called out that the Kerala-born cricketer should have started ahead of Rishabh Pant at the recent T20 World Cup 2024. 

How will i tell my kids that this six hitting monster Sanju Samson was sitting on the bench and watching an ugly slogger Rishabh Pant choke in the entire world cup?, a fan quoted on X.

One fan expressed that Sanju Samson deserved more chances in the limited-overs format for Team India. Samson was an unused substitute throughout the T20 World Cup 2024, which India were crowned champions of. 

One Indian cricket aggregator, CricCrazyJohns reminded the masses of Sanju Samson's recent performances in white-ball cricket. Samson hit a century in his last ODI that he featured in (108 off 114 vs South Africa). To top that, he now hit a half-century (58 off 45 vs Zimbabwe) in his last T20I appearance for India.  

One critic lauded Sanju Samson for the consecutive sixes that he hit in the fifth T20I against Zimbabwe. At 21 from 25, Samson hit two sixes off as many balls, to swing the pendulum towards India's favour.
