Afghanistan secured their third win of the 2023 World Cup as they defeated Sri Lanka by 7 wickets at the MCA Stadium in Pune on Monday.
Batting first, Sri Lanka were bowled out for 241 runs in 49.3 overs with opener Pathum Nissanka being the peak of their batters missing out on a half-century narrowly.
Afghanistan's Fazalhaq Farooqi starred with the ball as he picked up four wickets while Mujeeb-ur-Rahman picked up two.
The Afghans then chased down the paltry total in 45.2 overs for the loss of three wickets. Azmatullah Omarzai scored an unbeaten 73 while Hashmatullah Shahidi remained not out at 58. Earlier, Rahmat Shah had also scored a half-century.
