What is Gary Kirsten's strategic plan for Champions Trophy 2025?
The former South Africa opener met with former Pakistani players alongside head coaches and mentors of domestic league teams in Faisalabad on Wednesday, to chalk out a strategic plan ahead of the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2025 at home.
Per the media outlet Tribune, Kirsten stressed the importance of mental well-being, when going into a tournament as big as the Champions Trophy. He also focussed on the need for collaboration and teamwork, striving for each other's betterment.
Speaking to Tribune, the head coach said, "Individuals can win matches, but series and titles are won through teamwork, Kirsten said at the meeting in Faisalabad."
Kirsten also considered valuable suggestions from former Pakistan internationals like Waqar Younis, Misbah-ul-Haq, Shoaib Malik, Saqlain Mushtaq, and Sarfaraz Ahmed. The group addressed the weaknesses of the team and gave their input on team selection for the upcoming ICC event.
The 56-year-old will stay back in Faisalabad until the end of the ongoing Champions One-Day Cup tournament as he plans to monitor the players competing in the domestic competition and select players for future competitions of the national team.
