Pakistan's hopes of reaching the World Test Championship (WTC) final in 2025 are almost finished and buried. With their shocking 2-0 series defeat to Bangladesh and loss to England at Multan, the team is mathematically out of contention to qualify for the ongoing WTC cycle's final.

Under the captaincy of Shan Masood, the team is yet to win a single match after 0-3 loss against Australia and 0-2 defeat to Bangladesh.

After Pakistan's loss against England in the first Test at Multan, he admitted that the lack of sharpness with the ball hurt the team's chances.

"We need to win our home Test matches, take 20 wickets consistently, and ensure our batters score enough to support the bowlers," Masood stated.

Let's examine Pakistan's prospects and their chances in reaching the WTC final.

Where do Pakistan stand in the WTC points table?

Currently, Pakistan is ranked last at ninth spot in the WTC 2023/25 cycle with a points percentage of 16.67%. They have won two out of five matches so far.

What about an India vs Pakistan WTC final?

An India vs Pakistan final is impossible at this point. While India, currently leading the WTC table, could play the Final in 2025, their opponents would be one of the likes of Australia, Sri Lanka, England or New Zealand.

Pakistan at the bottom of the points table, are all but out of contention for the elusive trophy.
