England red-ball skipper Ben Stokes slammed a journalist on social media who alleged that the all-rounder suffered an injury while playing The Hundred. In the game against Manchester Originals, Stokes was taken off the field as he ruptured his hamstring while batting.

Courtesy of the injury, the all-rounder would miss the upcoming set of Tests against Sri Lanka at home. Standing a slim chance to qualify for the World Test Championship (WTC) final anyway, the absence of skipper Stokes could cause a huge dent in Englnad's hopes to challenge for the trophy.

A journalist blamed the veteran cricketer for playing in The Hundred, instead of saving himself and his energy for the upcoming series against Sri Lanka. England are scheduled to face the Lankan Lions in the inaugural Test starting on August 21, 2024.
