On Saturday, India sealed a 4-1 series victory over England as they won by an innings and 64 runs in the fifth Test at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala.

The Indian spinners were at the forefront of India's win in Dharamsala, as they took 18 of the 20 English wickets to fall. India's batters also did their part, as Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill scored centuries while Yashasvi Jaiswal, Devdutt Padikkal and Sarfaraz Khan scored half-centuries.
Despite India's solid performances with both bat and ball, they were helped by the fact that the visitors did not perform up to scratch. England's middle-order was outplayed with the bat, while the inexperience of Tom Hartley and Shoaib Bashir with the ball was on display at various points.
England trolled by former India players after underwhelming show in Tests
Ahead of the series, much had been made of England's new, aggressive playing style under captain Ben Stokes and coach Brendon McCullum, who took over in 2022. With several sections of the media dubbing this style as 'Bazball', the focus was on whether or not this would work on the slower, lower wickets in India.
As it turned out, England were comprehensively outplayed. They were particularly disappointing with the bat, as Jonny Bairstow, Ben Stokes and Ollie Pope (bar one knock of 196) failed to perform consistently. Former India cricketers Wasim Jaffer, Virender Sehwag and Aakash Chopra took to social media to express their thoughts on the visitors' performance.

There needs to be a method to madness. England simply didn’t have the game to match and looked clueless particularly after the second test match .

Eng media touted this as the best Eng team ever that's revolutionising Test cricket, and was up against an Ind team in transition and also missing 3-4 key players. And it still got hammered! Beating India at home in Test cricket could be the toughest challenge in Sport. #INDvENG pic.twitter.com/vE0xcFyWLL

The perceived weakness for England’s tour to India was their lack of experience in the spin department…but it’s their famed middle-order that has let them down massively.

When we were doing game plans for #INDvENG series in south Africa @StarSportsIndia My prediction was 4-1 India. Well done team India. They were many hurdles but winning against Bazball has been satisfying.

England's next two assignments in the red-ball format will be after the T20 World Cup this summer, as West Indies and Sri Lanka will visit in July and August respectively. They will host Pakistan in a 5-match T20I series in May prior to the World Cup.
