What did Basit Ali say about Pakistan team at T20 World Cup 2024?

Speaking on a reality show Har Lamha Purjosh on ARY News, Basit Ali slammed Babar Azam for picking the playing XI. Ali revealed that the Pakistan side is full of friends, as if they are playing for themselves.

The selection is not done based on merit, with the likes of Sahabzada Farhan, and Amir Jamal missing out on the T20 World Cup 2024. Wahab Riaz was appointed as the Chief Selector of the PCB before the WC. He was also blamed by the 53-year-old.

"Pakistan played a team of friends at the T20 World Cup. The selection was done based on friendship, and not merit. Sahabzada Farhan did not make the cut for the World Cup. This is a Babar Azam XI, and a Wahab Riaz XI," Ali said.

He added that, "Babar put pressure on Shaheen Afridi by handing Mohammad Amir the super over against USA. Amir Jamal was not selected for the T20 World Cup, but Mohammad Amir was."
